Today I'm sharing the female version of the ever popular batakare or fugu dress that was received as a gift.
This traditional attire which originated from the northern part of Ghana was mainly worn by males during special occasions; so much so that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the members of the Big 6 each wore one during the historic independence speech on March 6, 1957.  It's handmade woven cotton fiber; it has movement, it’s fun and very comfortable. Having this garment is like owning a piece of history and that's alright by me!
